SO Summertown residents, who have in the past failed to support three post offices, now “demand” that one be reinstated (Oxford Mail, August 15).
Why? I would say that a 500-signature petition hardly demonstrates “enormous support” in any man’s money for an area that size, does it?
I did eventually find myself understanding what Summertown resident Sheila Glazebrook really meant, however, when she described the Lib-Dem voter area population as “dense”.
Never has a more accurate and yet appropriate description ever been made! To parody Oscar Wilde: to lose one post office, Mrs Fooks, may be regarded as a misfortune – to lose three looks like carelessness.
