THE chief of Oxfordshire’s health services has resigned after just six months in her post.
Sonia Mills, who joined NHS Oxfordshire as chief executive in March 2010, has stepped down ‘due to personal reasons’.
Ms Mills was six months into a new role as head of the Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire NHS ‘Cluster’.
The cluster is a temporary commissioning body.
It was formed earlier this year, when the primary care trusts for Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire merged, and will oversee changes for the reorganisation of the NHS in 2013, when GPs will take over commissioning under the Government’s Health Reforms Bill.
Last night Fred Hucker, chairman of Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire NHS Cluster, said : “Sonia has been chief executive of NHS Oxfordshire since early 2010 and for the Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire Cluster over the past six months.
“She has contributed significantly to the health system throughout both counties and has established a sound basis for the current transitional activities within the NHS nationally.
“She will be missed within our two counties and on behalf of the board and all parts of the health system. I wish her well in her new endeavours.”
