WHAT with the Royal Wedding and The King’s Speech, I thought you might like to publish the photograph, right.
It shows Faringdon firemen taking part in celebrations for the Coronation of King George VI in May, 1937.
The photograph was taken in Gloucester Street, Faringdon.
The fireman standing beside the appliance is Fire Captain Charlie Smith, and the driver is Wilf Moleford. The two firemen sitting in the middle on the side of the fire engine are Chris Grey and Dick Goddard.
The man with the flat cap standing next to Captain Smith is, I think, a Special Constable.
BILL LAW Faringdon
