TWO people were taken to hospital after separate pile-ups on the A34 at the weekend.

Three people were injured in a five-vehicle crash on Saturday.

The crash happened at about 10.45pm on the northbound carriageway between the Milton Interchange near Didcot and Abingdon.

Two fire crews from Didcot attended the scene, which involved five vehicles containing a total of six people. Two people were taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford and one was treated by ambulance staff at the roadside.

The ambulance service was unable to provide details of the severity of the injuries at the time of going to press last night.

Meanwhile a lorry and three cars were involved in a pile-up on the A34 Oxford Western bypass just after 12.15pm yesterday, closing a lane and causing traffic queues.

Nobody was taken to hospital and those hurt were treated by paramedics at the scene for minor injuries.

The crash happened between the A420 Botley Interchange and A44 Woodstock Road Pear Tree Interchange.

Police reopened the road completely just after 1pm.
