THIS fine bunch of lads played their hearts out in a football competition.
We believe it was a six-a-side tournament for primary schools at Marriotts Close, Witney Town’s old ground, in the 1958-9 season. The picture comes from Joe Cockroft, whose father, Ted, is the boy third from the right in the front row. The only other boy we know is Mike Pratley, also in the front row, fourth from the left.
Joe tells me: “My dad can’t remember any more names. But he thinks the teams were Hailey Primary A and B, Leafield and maybe Minster Lovell or Shipton-under-Wychwood.” Can anyone tell us more?
