UP to 170 jobs are set to be created in Oxfordshire by online food retailer Ocado. The Internet supermarket is expanding rapidly and has chosen a 43,000sq ft warehouse at the White Horse Business Park in Stanford-in-the-Vale as a distribution depot to supply customers in the region.
The move was last night welcomed by civic leaders as positive news amidst continuing economic uncertainty.
Stanford-in-the-Vale councillor Robert Sharp, pictured, said: “The area has developed a lot in recent years and more new jobs would be most welcome.”
Ocado chief executive Tim Steiner said: “We are extremely pleased to be extending the Ocado service and creating more local jobs.”
Ocado bought the warehouse for an undisclosed sum.
It will start to refurbish the premises to officially open in November.
