THE drivers of vehicles using Ferry Hinksey Road daily must have had a quiet chuckle or sigh of relief on reading the Oxford Mail report (July 14) of the recent police exercise to monitor the 20mph speed limit.
It stated that only three or four vehicles broke the limit. Considering roadworks traffic lights were in use at the time, limiting their speed, it was a pointless exercise.
Would the police like to return any day at 1.30pm, and not be too visible?
At that time, the only vehicles doing 20mph are those stuck behind a law-abiding driver. The rest treat it as a Grand Prix track.
Probably this is the lunch hour for the rest but they endanger the lives of the children past West Oxford Primary School and two pedestrian crossings.
