ONE lane on the M40 north of Banbury remains closed this morning following a lorry fire overnight.
Fire crews were called to tackle the blaze on the southbound carriageway between junctions 12 and 11, Gaydon to Banbury, at about 3.30am.
Fire crews from Banbury and two from Warwickshire tackled the blaze on the hard shoulder of the motorway.
No one was hurt in the incident and a spokesman for Oxfordshire Fire Service said: “Thanks to quick attendance and action by fire crews, the fire was extinguished and prevented from spreading into the dry grass embankments and crops.”
The spokesman added that Thames Valley Police officers were investigating the cause of the fire.
