TWENTY-FIVE lucky readers have won their shopping thanks to the Oxford Mail.

We ran a competition last month in which readers could collect tokens in the hope of winning £100 towards the cost of the family shop.

The competition was a stunning success, with more than 2,300 entries.

For two weeks we ran tokens in the Oxford Mail with a different keyword each day.

All readers had to do was collect just four keywords to get a chance at winning.

Last week we randomly selected 25 winners from all the entries and they are now in the process of picking up their £100 shopping cash – all on us.

Rebecca Walton, 30, of Eynsham, is planning to spend her winnings on her 17-week- old son Jasper. She said: “We were really shocked to get the phone call.

“We don’t tend to win things. It was a very pleasant surprise.”

Marylyn Newport, 63, of East Oxford, said: “I entered because it was there and I usually enter the competitions in the local newspapers.

“It will probably go towards some wool, because I knit for Helen and Douglas House.

“I love the Oxford Mail because it is the local newspaper and it gives us local news.”

The idea of the competition was to reward readers for buying the paper on a daily basis by helping them with their every day shopping.

Oxford Mail promotions manager Jo Coady said the competition was to help out readers struggling to keep on top of their household bills.

She added: “We are so pleased with the success of this competition and it is great so many people entered.

“We are looking forward to running more competitions throughout the summer.”
