A TEAM who challenged themselves to climb three mountains and cycle 1,000 miles in 99 hours “smashed” their target by nearly seven hours.
Ten men from RAF Brize Norton cycled from John O’Groats to Land’s End, taking time out to climb the three highest peaks in the UK on their way.
And despite bad weather, a lack of sleep and problems climbing Scafell Pike, the team arrived at Land’s End six hours and 55 minutes early.
Squadron Leader Simon Jarvis, 51, said: “The cycling was ok, but going up the mountains was difficult. We had all walked up mountains before, but hadn’t realised how hard it would be when tired and there was a lot of discomfort from the cycling.”
So far they have raised more than £6,000 for the Royal British Legion, the Soldiers’ Charity and the PJI Benevolent Fund.
