A FIREFIGHTER staged a motorcycle safety event to try to cut the number of deaths on Oxfordshire’s roads.
The event was the third time Dave Smith, who is also a motorcyclist, has invited road safety experts and companies to visit Abingdon Fire Station.
More than 150 people called in to get information about motorbike safety and maintenance.
Mr Smith, 49, said: “It’s the time of year when riders are dusting off their bikes for the summer and we aim to reduce the number of injuries and fatalities in Oxfordshire and the rest of the country by education.”
Mr Chantler, 52, of Poplar Grove, Kennington, said: “Everything is different on a bike compared to a car. You have to look out for man hole covers and potholes, and a lot of car drivers aren’t aware of bikes.”
