I AM a little perplexed over Mr Makepeace’s letter about “Unneighbourly Cops” (Oxford Mail, June 16).
Thames Valley Police’s head of corporate support and manager of capital schemes have attended our annual parish meetings over many years, and spoke to residents about the latest developments at the headquarters site.
Any resident who was unable to attend had a parish council agenda contact telephone number for any queries they might have had.
As your readers know from past articles, the police are having to make some revised decisions due to budget cuts, which is involving some centralising and less renting of outside offices.
The development Mr Makepeace refers to was the subject of a residents’ consultation in May, and the figures over staff and costs associated with this development are subjective, as the police have to make savings.
I know the police are doing their best to accommodate and address concerns over parking and other issues raised through their consultation process.
It is hoped that residents can be patient and wait to see the final proposals, when they will have the opportunity, under the planning process, for making comments at the application stage.
