FAMILY workshops to create artworks for the Cowley Road Carnival will take place this weekend.

The BMW Mini plant will throw open its doors to the public for the sessions this Saturday and the following Saturday between noon and 4pm.

Visitors will be able to make items that will range from simple flags and banners to life size models, all on the theme of car making in the past, present and future.

The finished pieces will go on display at Cowley Road Carnival in South Park on July 3 and then returned to be placed around the factory.

John Hole, chairman of Cowley Road Works, the charity which organises the carnival, said: “We are very grateful to Mini Plant for the support they are providing this year.

“These workshops will create wonderful decorations and art works that really add to the whole spectacle, and help to make it a community creation in every sense of the word.”
