LAST year, Vale of White Horse District Council told everyone that there would be several changes to the rubbish collection service.
The Vale Housing Association informed us that each of the blocks of flats in Brookside and Northcourt Road, Abingdon, would be getting communal bins and that new bin stores would be built to house them.
However, before this happened, the council delivered wheelie bins with smaller boxes to keep in the kitchen. However, I did not find mine, and was told that the flats should have been given plastic bags, not wheelie bins.
As I have not been given wheelie bins, nor any plastic bags, I have been putting my rubbish in black bags and storing them in my shed (plastic bags would not be collected anyway).
I now see the contractors have started work on the bin stores, so perhaps in the near future, I will be able to carry my rubbish out to the communal bins – one handful at a time. That’s progress for you!
