People convicted of offences at magistrates courts in Oxfordshire recently: Freyja Snowe, 45, of Warwick Street, Oxford, admitted possessing cannabis (Class B) in Abingdon on September 16. Given a three-month curfew and told to pay £85 costs.

Chris Bray, 36, of East Avenue, Oxford, admitted using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour with intent to cause harassment, alarm or distress in Oxford on December 1. Given a six-month conditional discharge and told to pay £75 compensation and £85 costs.

Martell Muir, 20, of Abingdon Road, Oxford, admitted receiving stolen goods, namely a laptop and games console valued at approximately £450 on October 20. Given a 12-month conditional discharge.

Jack Case, 22, of Alma Place, Oxford, admitted shoplifting a bottle of wine valued at £7.49 from Tesco in Oxford on February 11. Given a six-month conditional discharge and told to pay £50 costs.

James Wilson, 48, of St Clement’s Street, Oxford, admitted shoplifting Lynx deodorant to the value of £26.19 from Boots in Oxford on January 24. Given an 18-month conditional discharge and told to pay £50 costs.

Luke Williams, 21, of Preachers Lane, Oxford, admitted assault by beating in Oxford on September 25. Given 120 hours’ unpaid work and told to pay £50 costs and £50 compensation.

David Easton, 25, of Wallingford Street, Wantage, admitted interfering with a motor vehicle, a Ford Fiesta, in Wantage on January 22. Also admitted theft of an exhaust pipe in Faringdon on January 22. Given 12 months’ supervision with a drug-rehabilitation requirement. Also told to pay a total of £300 compensation and £40 costs.

Kabiraj Gurung, 39, of Filey Road, Reading, admitted dangerous driving on the A4074 at Woodcote on October 21. Jailed for eight weeks “because the offence involved a single incident but it was a severe misjudgment by overtaking when it was not safe to do so. There were devastating consequences – multiple pile up and major life-threatening injuries caused to several others.” Banned from driving for two years.

Shaun Collins, 47, of Clark's Row, Oxford, admitted criminal damage to a window belonging to Thames Valley Police in Oxford on March 18. Told to pay £100 compensation.

Donna Shaw, 19, of Coopers Piece, Wallingford, admitted that between July 22, 2009, and June 15, 2010 she failed to notify the Department for Work and Pensions of a change of circumstances, namely that she had undertaken work, knowing it would affect her entitlement to Jobseeker’s Allowance. Given a six-month conditional discharge and told to pay £50 costs.

Elizabeth Tanner, 33, of Millway Close, Oxford, admitted shoplifting a pair of shoes and a cardigan valued at £84.50 from Marks & Spencer in Oxford on February 14. Also admitted committing a further offence while subject to a conditional discharge. Original offence of shoplifting resentenced. Fined £100, a £15 victims’ surcharge and £85 costs.

Melanie Axtell, 34, of Sherwood Close, Launton, admitted three counts of failing to notify the Department of Work and Pensions that her partner, Brendan Ryan, was working, thus affecting her entitlement to benefits between March 2008 and November 2009. Given 120 hours’ unpaid work and told to pay £50 costs.

Brendan Ryan, 35, of Sherwood Close, Launton, admitted two counts of failing to notify the Department for Work and Pensions of a change in circumstances, namely that he was working, thus affecting his entitlement to benefits between May 2008 and September 2008. Given an eight-week prison sentence, suspended for a year, because of “high value of loss from public fund over extended period”. Given a year’s supervision and ordered to do 90 hours’ unpaid work and pay £50 costs.

Hue Hoang, 34, of Mayfield Close, Chalgrove, admitted driving without due care and attention and without insurance in Shirburn Street, Watlington, on November 7. Fined £120, a £15 victims’ surcharge and £85 costs. Also told to pay £175 compensation and given six penalty points.

Michael Mukarage, 43, of Barton Village Road, Oxford, admitted making a false statement, in order to obtain Jobseeker’s Allowance between September 27, 2009, and May 19, 2010. Given a 10-month conditional discharge and told to pay £100 costs.

Christopher Taylor, 19, of Dene Road, Oxford, admitted failing to comply with the requirements of a community order by failing to attend supervision appointments on November 3, 10, 16 and 24. Given a four-month curfew and told to pay £125 costs.

Alexander Clarke, 30, of The Street, Ipsden, admitted assault by beating, two counts of using threatening, abusive, or insulting words or behaviour or disorderly behaviour to cause harassment, alarm or distress, and using threatening, abusive, or insulting words or behaviour to cause a fear of unlawful violence in Woodcote on December 17. Given a six-week jail term, suspended for a year, because “this was a series of violent incidents. A weapon was brandished. You assaulted a member of staff who was serving the public, alcohol fuelled.” Also given six months’ supervision and told to pay £50 compensation and £85 costs.

Mark Clifford, 34, of Park Road, Faringdon, admitted shoplifting Deep Heat valued at £4.99 from Boots in Faringdon on October 21. Given a six-month conditional discharge and told to pay £15 costs and £4.99 compensation.

Enrique Grana, 27, of Freelands Road, Oxford, admitted assault by beating in Oxford on November 4. Given a 12-month conditional discharge and told to pay £100 compensation and £50 costs.
