It was great to see a picture of Mike Cleaver presenting the trophies at the Oxford Town & Gown 10k race in aid of Muscular Dystrophy (Oxford Mail, May 16).
Mike and myself were racing cyclists in the late 1960s and rode together for many years on the same team for Oxford City Road Club.
We lost touch but briefly met again after more than 40 years at the start of the race, where Mike was the official starter for its 30th anniversary as he was the original organiser of the event.
What made the day even more memorable was Mike presenting a trophy to my daughter, Sarah Rendell, as the ladies Vet 35 winner.
It is amazing how much support there is for the race and how much money has been raised over the years.
Well done to all concerned.
