NOW we have had the local elections and have some new councillors, perhaps we could have some attention paid to local minor matters, and not get bogged down with trying to justify spending three-quarters-of-a-million pounds on changing Wantage Market Square – a scheme that few people want.
I have just returned from North Wales, where everything was bright and clean, with no litter, cigarette ends or chewing gum.
The grass cutting was immaculate, edges and hedges were trimmed, and pavements and roads tidy, weed-free and swept.
New councillors take note: living in a pleasant environment makes people happy and proud; living in a mess is depressing.
