A PLAN to build about 10,000 homes in South Oxfordshire over the next 15 years is being examined by a planning inspector.
Last November, South Oxfordshire District Council agreed the core strategy, which proposes about 9,000 new homes in Didcot, 400 in Wallingford and 530 in Thame.
The strategy also sets out how the council will help to support opportunities for employment.
On Tuesday planning inspector Roy Foster, who was appointed by the Government’s Communities Secretary Eric Pickles, visited the council’s headquarters in Crowmarsh to scrutinise the plan.
He will decide whether to recommend adoption of the strategy later this year, following public hearings in July, when he will consider evidence from the council and other interested parties about how the district should develop up to 2026.
If Mr Foster’s final decision is that the strategy is sound, then the council can go on to formally adopt it early next year.
