HOW strange it is that Thames Valley Police cannot or will not give out the figures relating to CCTV and crime detection in Oxford’s Cowley Road, with the excuse it would cost them to much to work out the figures (Oxford Mail, May 5).

But they can say exactly how many drivers have been caught speeding by Speed cameras since their reintroduction(Wednesday’s Oxford Mail).

They can even give the details that a driver is caught speeding every seven minutes.

I personally think it is money talking.

Speed cameras can earn thousands, if not millions of pounds, whereas CCTV earns nothing, but helps to catch criminals and then costs the taxpayer money for bed and breakfast for those convicted, depending on the mood of judge on the day.

Who said money never talks?
