STAFF and families at a Wallingford pre-school are celebrating after getting top marks from education bosses.

Rainbow Pre-School, above, in Bullcroft Park, has been operating for nearly 40 years and currently looks after with 87 children, aged two to five.

A recent Ofsted report judged the pre-school to be ‘outstanding’ in every area and staff, parents and toddlers have been celebrating as a result.

Julie Bywater and Fleur Gration are joint chairmen of the pre-school’s management committee.

Ms Bywater, from Wallingford, whose son Danny, two, goes to the pre-school, said: “The Ofsted rating reflects what a wonderful place Rainbow is. I have been so pleased with how the staff continue to deliver the most up-to-date childcare in a safe, lovely environment.”

Ms Gration, from Wallingford, whose son Johnny, four, goes to the pre-school, added: “Parents are delighted that the pre-school has been recognised in this way.

“A lot of the staff have worked here for more than 10 years. They are very experienced and very dedicated.”

Manager Sheila Millett said: “It is great news for Wallingford that the high quality of care at the largest pre-school in the area has been recognised.

“This report makes us one of the best pre-schools in Oxfordshire and we have had lots of inquiries from families since we got the report.”

Wallingford county councillor Lynda Atkins said: “This is a very impressive achievement.

“Staff work incredibly hard.”
