Oxford’s hospitals have not recorded an increase in the number of smog-related admissions after the Easter weekend.
On Friday the Government raised the smog warning to ‘high’ for most of south, east and central England as sunshine and still conditions prevented the dispersal of soot, dust, dirt and liquid nitrogen dioxide.
Experts had warned that asthmatics, the elderly, young children and heart patients would experience more difficulty breathing.
But initial reports from the Oxford Radcliffe Hospitals Trust said there had been no extra problems dealt with at its sites.
