THOUSANDS of youngsters searched for eggs at Blenheim Palace this weekend – but the Easter Bunny was nowhere to be seen.

Instead, popular children’s television stars including Peppa Pig and George, from the Nick Jr channel, were on hand to meet the families.

Young fans had their pictures taken with the cuddly characters at the Great Blenheim Palace Easter Hunt, which took place in the Pleasure Gardens yesterday and Sunday.

Ben and Holly, from the channel’s Ben and Holly's Little Kingdom, also made an appearance in Woodstock.

The Bartlett family, dad Tony, mum Melanie and Ben, five, Eva, two, and Taylor, five – headed to the event yesterday from their home in Yarnton.

Mr Bartlett said: “Blenheim Palace is a lovely location and the weather was wonderful so it was a really nice event for the family.”

The event proved so popular long queues were reported both mornings on roads leading to the palace. Blenheim Palace spokesman Heather Carter said: “Even more people came along than we expected, so we're delighted.”
