THIS time of year wouldn’t be the same without a glut of Easter eggs and bonnets.

An array of colourful bonnets was on display at a parade organised by Cowley Community Centre playgroup in 1982, with Meg Collins, four, and Timothy Coles, three, sporting their creations.

Fancy headgear was also in evidence at Cholsey Playgroup in 1988. Twins Jessie and Florence Gardener, aged four, went head to head, being awarded, like the other 40 young entrants, a chocolate egg for their efforts.

The next picture combines eggs and bonnets, with seven-year-old Rachel Parfitt suitably attired in an attractive bonnet, holding an equally attractive egg in 1990.

The egg, worth £37, was to be auctioned by Thame Lions to raise money for disadvantaged children to enjoy a day out.

The last picture dates from 1981 when Easter chicks perched on top of four-year-old Emma Ganter’s colourful bonnet helped her to victory in the girls’ section of the bonnet competition at Cowley Community Centre.
