FRANCESCA Owens kept her eye on the target of having fun at an all-action activity day at Blenheim Palace.

The 12-year-old was among youngsters having a go at archery as part of events being run by Oxford Active at the Woodstock stately home.

She said: “It’s been amazing. I enjoyed the archery but I’m not really that good at it. I preferred kayaking and canoeing.”

The camp is running this week for children aged seven to 16. Other activities include archery, orienteering, raft building, canoeing, basic first aid and even fish gutting.

Dominic White, who runs the camp, said: “Today children just sit in front of the computer all day.

“What we try to do is provide a camp where they are outdoors all day and doing things they wouldn’t normally do.”
