LET’S get things in perspective. Previous governments made billions of pounds in tax from smokers – helping to fund our National Health Service.
Yet first those health warnings were put on packets, and now they say they have to be packed in plain wrappers, out of the sight of children.
What a load of old rubbish!
The warnings were put on packets because the Government had to make it look as if they were doing their bit.
Yet they still wanted the revenue it makes.
If people all stopped smoking there would be billions more of tax revenue to find.
The price of cigarettes will continue to rise, even though a packet of fags is already overpriced.
No wonder more and more people are buying from abroad. I doubt that the Government likes people doing that either, but they can’t have it both ways.
