Sir – Simon Pollock (Letters, April 7) rightly criticises cyclists who ‘pile down’ Queen Street. But there’s no ‘wrong way’. Queen Street is a two-way street.

Motor vehicles aren’t allowed to access it from Carfax. But if they access it from Bonn Square, they can (in principle) legally do a U-turn. Cycling is allowed both ways, from 6pm to 10am.

Some bus drivers understandably don’t know this, and drive on the wrong side of the carriageway.
