Sir – In reply to Colin Cohen (Crass Decision, Letters, April 7) the people who should be apologising to the families and friends of those who have died or were injured on the Oxfordshire roads during the ‘switch off’ of speed cameras is not the Oxfordshire County Council, but the motorists who selfishly and persistently break speed limits.

If all motorists observed speed limits at all times there would be no need for speed cameras, thus saving a considerable amount of money.
