Sir – In the March 31 issue there is an article on the £53m re-vamp of Abingdon’s Bury Street shopping precinct.

The large picture shows the site as it currently is — not looking too bad at all! However the ‘artist’s impression’, apparently sketched from a helicopter, gives great views of the roofs and second-floor windows — but no impression at all as to what it will look after the massive spend.

Normally artist’s impressions tend to ‘over-ice the cake’ but in this instance, one cannot even see the cake! Am I missing something?

It looks as if the “sheltered section” will be removed, so presumably the planners are assuming it never rains in Abingdon and that shoppers prefer to get wet!
