Silverstone managing director Richard Phillips flew out to the Spanish Grand Prix this week to lend his support to the eight British riders competing in the 2011 FIM MotoGP World Championship.

While in Jerez, Phillips also launched the circuit’s ‘British Grand Prix: Back The Brits’ campaign.

The eight British riders – Cal Crutchlow (MotoGP), Bradley Smith, of Oxford, Scott Redding, Kev Coghlan (all Moto2), Danny Kent, Danny Webb, Taylor MacKenzie and Harry Stafford (all 125cc) – supported the ‘Back The Brits’ campaign when they came together for a photocall in Jerez, helping to promote the British Grand Prix at Silverstone on June 10-12.

Phillips said, “It’s fantastic that we’ve got eight British riders to get behind. While Bradley (Smith), Scott (Redding) and Danny Webb all raced at Silverstone last year, the British Grand Prix will be a new experience for the other riders.

"That said, Cal won both World Superbike races on the GP circuit last year, so he will be more confident going into his home race than any other round. One thing’s for sure – there will a fantastic atmosphere at Silverstone and they can expect a rapturous reception from their home crowd.”
