Cotswold Line commuters will be able to find out about progress on the £67m project to reinstate double track next week.

Staff from Network Rail and First Great Western will be on hand to talk to passengers at Hanborough and Charlbury stations from 6am to 9am on Monday and Tuesday respectively.

They will also be visiting Kingham station between the same times on Monday, April 4.

The line will be closed between Oxford and Moreton-in-Marsh, in Gloucestershire, from Saturday, May 28, until Sunday, June 5, for the commissioning of four miles of double track between Charlbury and Ascott-under-Wychwood, with the first trains due to use it on Monday, June 6.

Buses will replace trains during the closure.

Construction of new platforms at Charlbury and Ascott-under-Wychwood stations for trains using the new track is under way.

David Northey, the Network Rail manager leading the project, said: “Our work on the Cotswold line is progressing very well.

“We’re on track to finish the job this summer, meaning better journeys for everyone who uses the route.

“We’re doing everything we can to minimise the impact of our work on commuters, however we will need to close parts of the railway this summer.

“We want to make sure we get the message out to the people who use the route and we’ll be out and about at stations and on trains over the coming weeks to make sure commuters are well informed.”

The western section of the line, in Gloucestershire and Worcestershire, will be closed for two weeks in August for the commissioning of more double track.
