The Manor Preparatory School, Abingdon, believes in offering primary, first-hand experiences to all its pupils.
So, apart from the 80 or so weekly clubs and extra-curricular activities on offer, there is a host of trips.
For the very youngest of our children to those ready for secondary school, regular excursions, field trips and visits are organised, not only to consolidate their curriculum work but also to help them grow accustomed to meeting the unfamiliar and embracing the opportunities it offers.
Ranging from the morning trip to the apple farm for the younger children to the fabulous, residential trip to Normandy, France, for the girls in Year Six, the outings all present the boys and girls with experiences they will always remember.
Walking across the Ridgeway and staying overnight in a youth hostel is a thrilling introduction for the girls in Year Four, while the Year Five girls find themselves crawling through muddy tunnels and tackling high ropes courses on their trip to the Isle of Wight each summer.
The girls in Year Six also enjoy a cultural, overnight trip to Stratford before their European adventure later in the year.
While these trips are each a challenge to our boys and girls they are all supported by a caring and experienced staff well aware of the differing reactions to expect from the children.
Each child is gently encouraged and strongly supported in their steps into the unknown.
