ANTISOCIAL behaviour in West Oxfordshire dropped by 21 per cent last year.
Between April and December 2009 there were 2,916 incidents reported to Thames Valley Police, which dropped to 2,300 over the same period in 2010.
But website police.uk, which reveals monthly reported crimes, states that antisocial behaviour incidents are still “average” in the district. And the website states West Oxfordshire is worse for antisocial behaviour than South Oxfordshire and the Vale of the White Horse, where incidents are “below average”.
Oxford city centre is “above average”.
Pc Simon Towers, West Oxfordshire antisocial behaviour officer, said he was pleased with the reduction but said more needed to be done. He said: “We are not naive enough to think we are going to get rid of it totally, but we need to make sure everyone respects their area and respects each other.”
He said the extra officer to make his team two-man team had had a positive impact.
Intervention work, such as letters to parents, had also helped, he said.
