Police are appealing for information after a masked man forced his way into a man’s house and stabbed him.

The incident happened between 7.15pm and 7.30pm on Thursday, at an address in Plowden Way, Shiplake Cross, near Henley.

A 39-year-old man opened the front door of his house after someone knocked at it. On answering the door, a masked man forced his way into the victim’s house.

The two men became involved in a physical altercation during which the victim received four stab wounds before his attacker left the property.

The man is described as white, between 5ft 10in and 5ft 11in tall, in his early twenties, of medium build, with short, ruffled light blonde hair.

He was wearing a white or cream-coloured bandanna with small black shapes on covering his face and nose, a brown hooded top and blue jeans.

Det Con Dave Edwards said: “Firstly I would like to reassure the local community that we believe this is an isolated incident.

“The victim was left shaken by what happened, but thankfully the injuries he sustained were not serious.

“I would urge anyone who was in the area who saw or heard anything, or anyone with information about this incident, to come forward and speak to us as soon as possible.

“We have information that a white Transit van was seen in the vicinity shortly before the incident, and I would be keen to speak to anyone who saw it.

"I would also like to hear from anyone who may have found any discarded knives in the local area.”
