A TEENAGE motorcyclist died after taking a bend too fast, a coroner ruled.

Mark Trinder came off his Suzuki as he took a left-hand bend on the Thorney Leys ring road in Witney.

The 18-year-old, from Ducklington, hit a lamp-post at about 7pm on August 29 last year, Oxfordshire Coroner’s Court heard at Old County Hall yesterday.

No-one witnessed the accident.

Crash investigator Pc Daniel Henderson said Mr Trinder’s GSX-R600 had its acceleration restricted, but would have been easily capable of exceeding the road’s 30mph limit.

He said it was impossible to calculate the speed of the bike, which had no defects, but said the scene he encountered “indicated to me quite a high-speed collision, certainly not consistent with the 30mph speed limit”.

Pathologist David Delaney said Mr Trinder had suffered multiple injuries and his death was “consistent with a high-velocity impact”.

Coroner Nicholas Gardiner recorded a verdict of accidental death, and said: “Sadly it’s only too clear Mr Trinder was riding his motorcylce too fast for the combined capabilities of himself and the motorcycle.”
