IT was interesting to read in council leader Mr Mitchell’s recent letter (Oxford Mail, February 14) that he sees the need to reduce senior posts within his council during times of the “current economic climate”.

I understand he has been council leader for the past 10 years but during these times clearly saw no need to run a tight ship.

Maybe keeping tight reins on staffing levels would have left more money in the kitty and avoided some of the potential future cuts.
