Police today released a CCTV image of a man officers want to speak to in connection with the theft of a woman's purse in Banbury.
The purse was stolen from the handbag of a woman while she was at the Horton General Hospital in Banbury.
A bank card in the purse was later used to withdraw more than £200 from the 58-year-old woman’s account later that same day at the Sainsbury’s supermarket in Oxford Road, Banbury.
The theft happened some time between 8.30am and 1.10pm on August 8, 2010, but police only released details this afternoon.
PC Sam Devlin said: “The man pictured in the CCTV used the stolen card to withdraw money from the victim’s account.
“I would urge anyone who has information about who this man is, or who has seen this man around the Banbury area, to come forward and speak to me as soon as possible.”
Anyone with information should contact PC Devlin via the 24-hour Thames Valley Police Enquiry Line on 0845 8 505 505. Alternatively, you can contact the Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.
