Six Oxfordshire men including Oxford United fans have been jailed for a total of nine years for their part in a Wild West-style saloon bar brawl.

A gang of 14 men from Oxfordshire and three Gloucestershire men were sentenced at Bristol Crown Court today for their roles in the fight in Cheltenham in 2009.

The six men, along with three men from Gloucestershire, were jailed today, while others were sentenced to range of punishments including unpaid work and fines.

Judge Martin Picton told the men today: “You should all be thoroughly ashamed of yourselves.”

The fight took place at the Moon Under the Water pub in Bath Road after the U’s match against Kettering had been called off due to bad weather.

Bottles and glasses were thrown causing more than £5,000 worth of damage, while a bystander, suffered a broken jaw.
