IT would appear that after many accidents resulting in many injuries and one death, both Horspath Parish and Oxfordshire County councils by removing half of the chicane, have at last accepted that the chicanes in the village have caused more problems than they solved.
With the spending cuts recently announced, how much money was wasted installing the chicanes only to later remove part of them to make them safe, not to mention the cost of the accidents.
The chicanes have done nothing to slow traffic from the day they were first installed, so why did it take so long for the councils to admit they were wrong? Again.
