THE health service ombudsman Ann Abraham has condemned our wonderful John Radcliffe Hospital, (yesterday’s Oxford Mail), but that criticism is just a cover for this Government’s ineptitude in providing the necessary funding and staff levels.
Of course Ms Abraham has to justify her position, but did she take into account all the miraculous recoveries with seriously ill patients that are due to the dedication of caring staff?
With a lack of funding nationwide, hospitals are going to make mistakes, but at the JR any mistakes are a tiny percentage of the good work done 24/7.
I have been resuscitated three times in the past 10 years and would not be here now had staff acted without care and compassion.
It is inevitable that as hospital workloads increase so accidents will happen, but praise should be Ms Abraham’s first priority.
