Police are appealing for information after a robbery at a petrol station in Oxford today.

Officers were called to the BP petrol station in Cherwell Drive, Marston, at about 6.10am after reports two men had threatened a member of staff with what is believed to be a gun and forced him hand over money before leaving the store.

The man carrying the gun is described as white, about 5ft 8in tall, and was wearing a black jacket and had his face covered with a scarf.

The second man was also white, about 5ft 6in tall and was also wearing a black jacket and had his face covered with a scarf.

Det Insp Steve Raffield said: β€œAt this time detectives are carrying out door-to-door inquiries in the area, to see if anyone saw or heard anything and the neighbourhood policing team will be patrolling the area to offer reassurance to local residents.

β€œI would urge anyone who was in the Cherwell Drive area at any time around 6am this morning, who may have seen men matching this description or anything suspicious around the petrol station, to come forward and speak to us as soon as possible.”
