THOUSANDS of aspiring young singers, dancers and artists got their chance to shine in the first Oxfordshire Talent Week.

Schools and colleges across the county took part in the event, which aims to raise awareness of young talent.

The week culminated in a four-hour showcase at Templars Square in Cowley, presented by Miss Oxford Alice Christian, on Saturday.

Elise Clare, a 15-year-old dancer from Blackbird Leys, said: “It’s been a whole lot of fun.”

Talent Week founder Lydiah Igweh said: “Oxfordshire Talent Week shows Oxfordshire’s talented youngsters what they can aspire to achieve by giving them fun, excitement and inspiring music from the UK’s brightest emerging talent.”
