But with plenty of beer on the table, not to mention the cigarettes and ashtray, it looks as if it was a fairly relaxed gathering.
Committee members of the British Legion club at Marston, Oxford, were meeting to discuss the next stage of a building programme at their headquarters in Hadow Road in 1963.
The chairman, Don Hughes, is sitting at the head of the table, in the centre, and on his right is secretary Arthur Gregory, but we don’t know the names of any others.
Despite recent financial troubles, the club is still going strong.
