PLANS for Bicester to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee in style have taken a step forward.
A public meeting this month agreed to set up a committee to organise a celebration for the milestone, to be marked with a four-day bank holiday weekend at the start of June, 2012.
One idea is to ask residents to donate £1 each to pay for the celebrations.
After the meeting, town MP Tony Baldry said it had been agreed to hold a main party on the Bank Holiday Monday, June 4.
He added: “It would be an all-day party, maybe starting with an open-air service and ending with a firework finale. Central to that is to ensure every child could take part in that celebration to mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and something they can tell their children and grandchildren about.”
