Sir – Some time ago, the local authority leisure centres were taken over by a commercial company and, on the whole, they have honoured a commitment to help under-18s and over-60s use facilities at a reasonable price.
The local authority, on the other hand, far from supporting people has now increased the fees for the adjoining car park by 20p per hour. They know they have a ‘captive audience’ (the North Oxford Association Centre is also on site) so have exploited this.
I fail to see any justification for such a massive increase in one year which is starting to prevent people using the centre on a regular and frequent basis.
