Sir – The decision of the county council to close some of the waste reception centres may be ‘plain daft’, as city councillor John Tanner (board member for a cleaner, greener Oxford) says (Letters, January 27), but the closing of some of the city public conveniences must be dafter, particularly when it was done with the promise of improving those left open when there is no money available for the purpose.
To some extent the county is compensating for this cut in what is a social service, by providing conveniences at some of the park-and-rides.
