A smash between two vehicles and a gas tanker has closed the southbound M40.
The road is shut between junction ten at Brackley and Cherwell Valley Services and nine for the A34 and Bicester.
Three people are thought to have been injured after the crash which happened at around 7am.
The Highways Agency has said the road could be closed all morning.
Many roads in the surrounding area are snarled up because of the incident.
