THERE was rapturous applause when members of the North Oxford Towns-women’s Guild held a fashion parade.
The guild’s drama group had collected a large number of theatrical outfits over the years and decided they should be shown to a wider audience.
So in 1956, they arranged a fashion show, entitled Through the Ages, for the South Oxford Conservative Club women’s branch. The costumes demonstrated the change in fashion between the two Elizabethan eras.
The compere was Mrs B Tuckey and the women in the parade were Mrs J Durham, Mrs M Burnell, Mrs G Latham, Mrs J Stentiford, Mrs J Merry and Mrs D Jerome.
