THE mystery ‘patient’ trundled around Stonesfield in a decorated hospital bed in 1977 turned out to be parish clerk Jill Moore. The sponsored bedpush was Stonesfield Cricket Club’s major fundraising event of the year. The team made seven circuits of the village and raised £120. Only two villagers managed to guess the identity of the ‘patient’.
The young people in the second picture were among 600 who set out from Stonesfield on a Save the Countryside sponsored walk in 1979. Most of them managed to complete the 20-mile course.
The third picture shows children at the primary school, in Victorian attire, entertaining visitors in the playground in 1982.
