IN RESPONSE to Tony Harbert’s letter (Oxford Mail, January 23) I hope I can answer his question about why the section of ring road between Heyford Hill and Redbridge can’t be cleared of rubbish as that between Heyford Hill and Littlemore roundabouts has.
The section that has been cleared comes under the city council and Rose Hill councillor Ed Turner has made this possible.
But the other section comes under the county council, led by our old friend Keith Mitchell.
As you know, he is hell-bent on cutting back on everything except, it would seem to appear, his expenses and overgrown hedges.
Fly-tipping is a regular occurrence on this stretch, and only last month someone dumped a load of rubbish there.
I phoned Ed Turner on a Sunday, even though it was not his responsibility, and he had it cleared up first thing on the Monday morning.
It’s a pity our Conservative county councillors are not as helpful. Well done Ed, and thank you for your help.
