A man was attacked and robbed in Banbury.

The 26-year-old man was walking over the bridge in Middleton Road at approximately 5.45pm on Sunday. He took a shortcut off the road that leads to the Mill Arts Centre and the Oxford Canal.

As he turned off the Middleton Road he was kicked from behind and knocked to the floor, where he was kicked again in the chest.

The robber then stole the man’s black Sony MP3 player, his FUBU wallet and a set of keys from his pocket. The robber then ran off along the canal.

Det Con Joe Stevenson said: “The victim can only describe seeing a white male, about 5ft 9in tall, wearing white tracksuit bottoms and black trainers.

“The victim suffered bruising to his face and knees in the assault.

“I would like to speak to anyone who was in the area who may have seen the robber, either before the incident or later on as he ran away from the incident along the towpath.”
